T Minus One Day to Denver

This is one of those days when I'm happy not to have any obligations outside the house. Lots to do to get ready for our trip! First of all, my house has to be MIL-ready (Mother-In-Law, get with it, people!). My MIL is amazing (she doesn't even read this so you know I'm being truthful), but even after 11 years of being her DIL I still feel the need to present a certain whatever the appropriate word is here... You know, like I feel like I have to have a clean house when she comes over! They'll be taking care of the kids, but mostly at their house. But they'll be in and out of here to take care of the animals and whatnot. I'm not too worried about packing till later and possibly even tomorrow morning since we don't have to leave till noon. I'm hoping we can pack just carry-ons since it's a short trip but I get so confused about the regulations! We got stuff confiscated coming back from Jamaica last year and I've narrowly escaped having quality makeup confiscated in Charlotte (he let me go back thru and check my backpack). I may take an extra suitcase anyhow in case we get a start on our Xmas shopping out there (she says hopefully).

Oooh, I have to tell you about this awesome chocolate milk mix the Pioneer Woman told me about. You take one cup of heavy whipping cream, bring it to a slow boil. Remove from heat and add 4 oz. of semi-sweet chocolate (chips, bars, whatever). Stir till the chocolate is melted. (Don't do like I did and try to shortcut it by boiling the cream in the mike. We had a chocolate cream explosion as soon as I added the choc. chips!) She says this concoction will keep in the fridge for two weeks. I made only half a recipe last night and it was gone by the end of supper. D and the kids LOVED IT! I would imagine it would make great hot chocolate as well. She suggests keeping it in the fridge in a squeezy ketchup bottle and use like choc. syrup.

For your entertainment, here is a very special drawing by Eli:

The green is a grape. The middle brown thing is a pile of poop. The larger brown thing is a football. He said you could look at it to compare the sizes of those things. I swear he said that! It's a very important reference tool in case there's ever any question. But I've personally seen poop that looks like that grape, so I don't know... the wrinkles in the paper are from when he rolls up his artwork scroll-like to present to us. He does this with every picture he draws!

Have a great Thursday, everyone!
